Does submitting articles still work for getting traffic? Of course it does, there are many great benefits of writing articles and posting them to the directories. Although getting traffic is one of the bigger challenges for most webmasters, articles still have their purpose for long and short term traffic.

If you're looking to really have a dramatic effect on your traffic building you have to adopt a plan for submitting content on a regular basis. You should set a goal to submit at least one per week. That will give you 52 or more driving traffic over a year's time and that should make a huge impact on your traffic levels.

Although many so called bum marketers would say to write 20 or more a day, you do not want to give up quality for quantity. Saturating a niche with crappy content will not help you with the long term goal of becoming an authority in the niche.

One of the benefits is that your article may get picked up and published in and e-zine and that publisher may archive their different issues. This will result in a long term inbound link from that site which raises your sites ranking and credibility. To increase the chances of getting published make sure the content is relevant and not a sales type of article.

Articles are a great way to build a rapport and trust with readers. When you offer good, free content that can solve issues that others have they are more likely to visit your site and either opt in or make a purchase. Trust is a major selling point.

Another benefit is the opportunity to go viral. One method is to offer to exchange articles with other e-zine publishers and run their content in yours. They would in turn run your article in theirs and you both benefit. We see this a lot when people are launching a new product. They will contact other sites and offer to swap some articles in exchange for running one about their new product. Be wary on this one though. You always want to keep your subscribers in mind before recommending another product.

Over all submitting articles has many benefits and traffic building value. Concentrate on good quality that your target read will find useful. The better written it is the better the odds it will get picked up by another publisher. Long term, every article you have out on the net will bring you some traffic so do not dismiss the benefits of using articles.
