Is Clickbank A Scam?

Is Clickbank a scam? This is the question many people ask. The answer is no. But if it is not a scam, then why is the question asked in the first place?

Clickbank does not actively pick and choose who can participate in their program. Hence, many scammers take advantage of the ease of Clickbank to promote digital products they have cobbled together in hopes of taking advantage of others. This is probably the main reason why people suspect Clickbank of being a scam. Services like Adwords are rarely called scams, though many users say it doesn't work for them.

Among the products sold on Clickbank are hundreds of affiliate marketing scams. Basically, these are all the same. Their homepage tells you how their system will allow you to sit back and relax and make a six figure income while their software does all the work. They all work in a similar fashion: you pay them for a "personal website" that advertises nothing more than the affiliate link you have just purchased. It is then your job to promote "your" site using yet another paid service or two that they happen to be affiliated with. This is usually an article submission service.

What it all boils down to is this. You pay them for the privilege of generating traffic to their website. If you work very hard, you may make a small amount of money on commissions, but they will make the bulk of the money, including your monthly subscription fee. For some reason, Clickbank cops the blame for being the scam, not them.

Hundreds of products are added to Clickbank every day. If you have a legitimate online business and are looking for quality products to sell, it's very likely you can find some on Clickbank. People just like you who have something to sell but are on a tight budget use Clickbank and it can be a valuable service. It all depends on how you use it.

One more thing people complain about is that Clickbank only pays you by a cheque in the mail. This is true up to a point. Once you have received a few cheques, you can get paid by direct deposit. In a way, this is a good system, because it helps filter out the ripoff artists.

Clearly, Clickbank is not a scam. Unfortunately, scammers use Clickbank and their reputation suffers as a consequence. Used correctly, it can be a good way to break into internet marketing. It depends on your own integrity.
