Affiliate programs can be an effective tool to use on your blog or website earn extra money for you. But it is important to choose the right affiliate program based on the nature and content of your site and one that offers the most earning potential.

To understand how affiliate programs pay, it helps to know a few terms first:

* Customer: A customer is someone that clicks through from your website to to another website (a merchant site) from yours. A customer may or may not have to make a purchase for you to be paid depending on the terms of the affiliate program.

Affiliate Marketing entails a lot of things before you can start making money online. Here are some affiliate marketing basics that may help you streamline your process of affiliate marketing:

1: Select your Niche: If you’re into niche marketing of any kind, then one of the biggest problems you’ll likely have in your business is finding and researching not only profitable niches, but ones that are easy to compete it as well. That’s always been one of my biggest problems, and to a certain extent it still is.

2: Select your ClickBank product: Once you know what niche you want to target, it becomes easier to select most popular or most profitable products. Get a ClickBank account, and get your affiliate links for those products.

3: Create your website: Promoting your products online is not simple especially when there billions and billions of people selling their products on the internet. Build a website, register a keyword friendly domain name and start marketing your products online.

4: Copywriting: Building a website is not enough. You need powerful and covertly persuasive content to speak on your behalf. Remember you are trying to sell a product and so you need a good sales copy for your website. If you are not good at sales writing, hire a copywriter. Remember, your content is very crucial part of your affiliate marketing campaign.

5: Add Graphics: People tend to see more than read so do not forget to add some creative and informative graphics for your products. Highlight why they should buy what you are selling online. What is the value, benefit for them? Just think the way you would if you were to buy something online.

Blogging Strategies

But "blogs" themselves aren't a "strategy". They're a tool. And just like a hammer wouldn't be an effective tool if you swung it at your finger instead of the nail, a blog isn't an effective tool unless you use it as part of a solid marketing strategy.

A guy I usually listen to when it comes to using blogs for making money online is Andrew Hansen. Andrew's claim to fame is his strategy for combining blogs with affiliate marketing, and various free traffic generation methods, to create passive income revenue streams that can remain profitable for a long time.

Part of this strategy is to use blogs NOT as an every day blogger who's focused on pulitzer prize winning content, generating of mouth and creating link bait... but instead to use blogs as a simple content management system that can assist in getting fast search rankings for highly profitable keywords in order to generate high conversion rates on affiliate offers.

As Andrew says, blogs are perfect for this purpose because they are easy for anyone to set up, don't require any coding knowledge, but come with features that most regular websites don't have that can be leveraged for extreme advantages in the search engines, like RSS Feeds, pinging and others.

Interestingly he also points out how blogs while traditionally aren't known for their ability to create high clickthrough or conversion rates on "offers" (including presells or direct sales offers) can in fact be tweaked to leverage some of the MOST powerful conversion boosters and can thus become high conversion selling machines.

Andrew's just about to release a new "Institute" to teach people more about these strategies for profiting through "niche blogging" and he's put out some really interesting FREE videos that you can check out to learn some quality actionable steps to making money from your blogs, or STARTING to make some blogs that will generate passive income for you too.

If you've heard the fuss about the Niche Blogging Institute and are wondering whether it might be a helpfulinvestment for your online business, this review will try to provide some of the information you need to make an informed decision at this early stage in the prelaunch of NBI.

First we need to know what NBI is, but so far only limited information has been released, of course. From what I can tell, the Institute is going to be focusing solely on affiliate marketing through blogs. In that way it's more specific than other affiliate marketing training memberships, so it won't be for "everyone".

In a more recent video, Andrew revealed another few points about what the focus of the training and resourced provided at NBI will be.

The first point of interest is that NBI will aim to eliminate some of the need for content production by it's members by offering quality article content on the targeted "buying" keywords that are delivered each month through the "research" modules. Since the creation of content is often a big stumbling block for new affiliate marketers, this element could prove to be a big contributor to it's members success.

Speaking of content, another thing Andrew has promised to teach is some strategies for lessening the need for infinite content (a challenge for bloggers at any level) by "content leveraging" and being able to keep conversions high while utilizing content that's not your own.

Another thing I picked up from Andrew's latest video was that there maybe training material in NBI geared towards helping you generate traffic from sources other than the search engines and social networks; something I was quite interested in.

But at the end of the day, if it can show me something that can help me make my blogs consistently profitable, that's all I care about; so I'll be watching closely to see what else is revealed about Niche Blogging Institute before it's launched on November 18th.
