The Real Story on Google Droid

The newest smart phone to hit the market was created Google, Verizon and Motorola to be a direct competitor to the Apple iPhone and AT&T. The Google Droid was manufactured by Motorola, featuring Google's Droid technology, and is available over Verizon's extensive 3G network. The Google Droid is a great phone that offers the latest technology and hardware, and has many applications and features that allow it to compete with the iPhone, but so far it is has not had the significant impact that Google, Verizon and Motorola hoped for.

News about the Droid first hit the internet this summer when pictures and information started showing up on various sites. This helped create a buzz about the Droid, as many people began speculating on-line about what the finished product would look like, and what applications it would offer. When the Droid was formally introduced users saw that the finished product offers a 3.7inch screen, a full keyboard, a 5 mega-pixel camera, and internet access, as well as many other great applications and features.

And it also gives the iPhone some runs for its money as far as hardware features are concerned, however will it get top billing amongst users? Well the three companies Google, Motorola and Verizon feel that the combination of their united forces will give the iPhone a true run for the money; however there are still some doubts that the release of this latest creation will give the iPhone some good stiff competition this holiday season.

The Droid was strategically released this November to coincide with the holiday shopping season. Despite the great features available on the phone, and the decision to target holiday shoppers, however, the advertising for the Droid has not been great, which means many people may not even be aware that the product exists. The television advertising has been limited, and very vague, not providing much information about the product at all.

As with any new product, if the advertising is not in place to inform as many consumers as possible about the product, then sales will not be good. If there is any flaw with the Google Droid at all it is probably the poor advertising campaign. The Google Droid is a great phone, with the technology and features that could make it a serious competitor to the iPhone, but if the public is not aware of this phone, and what it can do, it will never reach its goal of becoming the number one smart phone on the market.
